Work Safely at Heights - BCGCM1006A

Overview

This course will enable participants to be deemed a “competent person” as defined by the WH&S Regulation QLD (2008) in relation to planning and undertaking safe working practices when working at heights.

The scope of Working Safely at Heights includes:

  • Current legislation
  • Risk management
  • Calculate forces of falls and clearances
  • Types of fall protection systems
  • Rescue and emergency
  • Anchorages
  • Inspection and maintenance of fall protection equipment

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older; and
  • Have at least an intermediate level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills;

Delivery

Formal training and theory assessment for this course is delivered over six - eight (6 - 8) hours using a combination of face-to-face classroom and practical activity sessions.

Outcomes

It is expected that competent participants should be able to:

  • Plan and prepare work
  • Choose appropriate fall protection equipment
  • Inspect fall protection equipment

Upon successful completion of all assessments (theory and practical) associated with this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
