Operate Non-slewing Mobile Crane - OHSCER230A
Overview
This course covers the functions required to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than three tonne capacity) to meet the minimum formal training and assessment standards for the purposes of certification through Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older; and
- Have at least an intermediate level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills; and
- Have access to a suitable workplace to complete the on-the-job training component.
Delivery
Formal training and theory assessment for this course is delivered between three (3) and five (5) days of face-to-face classroom and practical activity sessions. N.B. The length of the course depends of the existing level of experience of participants. An additional 60 hours (minimum) of supervised on-the-job training is also required.
Units of Competency
There is one (1) unit of competency associated with this course: OHSCER230A Operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonne capacity)
Outcomes
It is expected that competent participants should be able to:
- Locate, interpret and apply relevant information, standards and specifications
- Demonstrate compliance with site safety plans and OH&S legislation / regulations / codes of practice / advisory standards etc as they apply to workplace operations
- Demonstrate compliance with organisational policies and procedures including quality requirements
- Demonstrate the safe and effective operational use of tools, plant and equipment
- Communicate and work effectively and safely with others
- Position, stabilise, set up and operate non-slewing mobile crane demonstrating all functions to the maximum extension
Upon successful completion of all assessments (theory and practical) associated with this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of 30497QLD Course in Operating Crane, Rigging & Scaffolding Equipment.
Assessment Requirements
Participants will be required to successfully complete a series of assessment tasks which will include a written assignment, knowledge exam and practical skills performance assessment. A log book record of at least 60 hours supervised work experience also must be presented. All assessments are “closed book” and require a 100% pass mark.
