Operate Elevated Work Platform (Boom Type) - OHSCER 235A
Overview
An elevating work platform is a telescoping, scissor or articulating device (or combination there of) used to position personnel, equipment and materials at work locations. It is also used to provide a work area for personnel elevated by and working from the platform.
This course covers the functions required to operate scissor lift and boom type elevating work platforms (boom length 11m>) to meet the minimum formal training and assessment standards for the purposes of certification through Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- be at least 18 years of age or older; and
- Have at least an intermediate level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills; and
- Have access to a suitable workplace to complete the on-the-job training component.
Delivery
Formal training and theory assessment for this course is delivered over two (2) days of face-to-face classroom and practical activity sessions. An additional 20 hours (minimum) of supervised on-the-job training is also required.
Outcomes
It is expected that competent participants should be able to:
- Locate, interpret and apply relevant information, standards and specifications
- Demonstrate compliance with site safety plans and OH&S legislation / regulations / codes of practice / advisory standards etc as they apply to workplace operations
- Demonstrate compliance with organisational policies and procedures including quality requirements
- Demonstrate the safe and effective operational use of tools, plant and Equipment
- Communicate and work effectively and safely with others
- Set up and operate elevated work platforms demonstrating all functions to the maximum extension
Upon successful completion of all assessments (theory and practical) associated with this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of 30497QLD Course in Operating Crane, Rigging & Scaffolding Equipment.
