Course in Confined Space Safety - BCCCM2009B
Overview
This course is intended to provide building, construction and maintenance workers with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the legislative requirements associated with providing a safe work environment. It will also allow industry workers to further develop important work skills in the area of confined space safety.
Target Audience
Existing building and construction workers who either supervise work, or are about to supervise work, in confined spaces.
Entry Requirements
Participants must have:
30215QLD or CPCOHS1001A Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry); and a minimum intermediate level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills.
Delivery
This course is delivered and assessed over one (1) to two (2) days of face-to-face classroom sessions. N.B. Course duration depends on the location of the confined space site used.
Prerequisites
Each participant must have a current Senior First Aid and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate before enrolling in this course.
Outcomes
It is expected that participants should acquire knowledge, skill and understanding of the following areas:
- Relevant obligations, requirements and responsibilities when working in confined Spaces
- Relevant legislation/s, standards and duty of care
- Risk assessment and management
- Hazard identification, control and reporting
- Planning for entry into a confined space
- Safe use of equipment
- Emergency procedures
Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
